Windows 8 vs iOS, Round 1: Fight!

Posted by on June 6th, 2013

You’ve probably heard our general stance of neutrality on the Mac vs. PC debate – if it help you get your designs done, you can use whichever computer you prefer. But when we leave the office and go home for the day, all bets are off.

My sister and I actually have a mini-war going on. She’s all about Apple products, from her iPhone to her iPad. On the other hand, I stick with PC products; my tablet is an Android, and no, I don’t have a smartphone. As with our Rockies vs Diamondbacks rivalry (pop quiz: guess which side I’m on?), we’re polar opposites – and we’re constantly teasing each other over it.

This rivalry was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the new Windows 8 ad, and I nearly fell out of my seat laughing. You don’t have to be an Android or a Windows fan to appreciate the sheer cleverness of the video:

Less talking, more doing – I’ll have to remember that the next time I send my sister a text.

What do you think, Apple fans? Do you have a good comeback yet?

I’m a big fan of Apple products, but I’ve never been particularly interested in the iPad. I think it’s way overpriced, it’s not even close to being as fully featured as a laptop, and it can’t do Flash. The only selling point to me in the iPad is that it can use all the apps that I’ve already purchased on the iPhone. If I do decide to get a tablet, I’ll probably go with the Kindle Fire.

Good point on the existing paid apps Alex. I know a few people with iPhones who feel “stuck” with them because of their paid apps. And, I am sure there are people with Androids that want to switch but feel stuck for the same reason. I still want a Windows 8 tablet though! I love the portability of my Asus.
