It’s every internet user’s favorite time of year – Facebook timeline update time. It’s ok, you can take a moment to let out your squeals of excitement.
But all sarcasm aside, we actually like the new layout. Timeline updates have all been moved to the right hand side of the timeline, while your company info has been moved to the left side. It’s mobile-friendly, content-focused, and generally easy on the eyes.
The new profiles aren’t available to everyone yet. We were lucky enough to get a chance to preview it; for everyone else, the changes will begin rolling out on April 3rd – giving you plenty of time to use our snazzy new template.
A few things to keep in mind while you’re designing:
- The new layout places your page name and subcategories directly over your cover photo. This means you should stick to a largely visual image, and leave the text for your “about” section.
- Your contact info will be placed front and center, so make sure it’s up to date! The same goes for your selected sub-categories, page description, and other information.
The page elements have stayed roughly the same size, so you won’t have to reinvent the wheel. Just check that your current images fit the new layout, and you should be good to go.
